Pecha Kucha Knoxville Vol. 58 Elisa Trentham "Timing"
What if the most important stories in your life are the ones you’re almost too late to tell? In this Pecha Kucha talk, I share how the timing of my life — the plans that didn’t happen, the prayers I didn’t expect to answer the way they did, the move I didn’t want to make — led me to something far more meaningful: capturing my grandmother’s story before it was too late. From growing up in the “microwaveable” era of quick expectations… To being single when I thought I’d be married… To moving into my grandmother’s basement while pregnant and sick… Every twist in timing shaped the way I see legacy. What started as a simple interview with my 90-year-old grandmother became a film that honored her life in front of everyone she loved — just months before she passed away. That experience changed me forever and reshaped how I approach storytelling today.
This talk is about:
• The illusion that life should move on our schedule
• Why we delay telling the stories that matter
• The regret of waiting too long
• And how you can begin capturing a legacy story — today You don’t need fancy equipment. You don’t need the “perfect” moment.
You just need to start. Because when it comes to legacy storytelling, the best time is now.
