My Story
Since I was a young girl, I had a camera in my hand, and created short films with my friends every chance I could get. I dreamed of being a producer in Hollywood, studied film in college, and eventually spent a summer interning at the American Film Institute in Hollywood.
I felt called back home to Knoxville, and God provided an incredible opportunity for me as the Media Production Coordinator with the State Department’s “Empowering Women and Girls through Sports” grant. In that role, I proved that video storytelling is powerful. The government decision-makers, who had originally told us to stop working on video, completely changed their attitude after they saw the final product, and how well it communicated their mission. I also proved that effective video storytelling could be created with a small team of 2-3 people.
In my free time, I filmed interviews with my grandmother, and eventually created my first legacy film about her life, as told by herself and her children. We played the video at her 90th birthday party, and I was amazed at the power of that moment. She was honored, everyone was inspired, and now we have something we can watch again and again. She passed away just a few months later, and whenever I long to hear her voice or her story, I can remember her with this video.
I decided to take my passion for legacy and video storytelling to step out and launch Sherwood Media in 2015. I maintain a small crew for each project, usually between 3-5 people, and we create magic. I have clients tell me all the time how much they hate being on camera, but when they see the final result, they are always so proud of how their story is portrayed in the video, and that they had so much fun in the process.
Whether you are looking for a video for your business, online course videos, or a fundraising video for your nonprofit, your story is in good hands with Sherwood Media.
Fun Facts
I’m married and living in Knoxville with husband Jonathan our three young kids. I love all things Spain, fiber arts (sewing, knitting, spinning wool), swing dancing, strategy board games, and trying to find German speakers so I can tell them this one joke I know in German.
We are long-time members of Harvest Church in North Knoxville. Our inspiration and motivation come from our amazing God, who out of love for us was made man through Jesus Christ and by his power now dwells in us by the Holy Spirit. He’s the ultimate storyteller! Did you know He loves you too?
