Dancing for a Cause: I’m Team Do-Si-Do in the Great Cookie Competition!
Hi everyone!
I am absolutely thrilled to share some exciting news with you all today. I’m officially stepping out onto the (virtual) dance floor to participate in the Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians’ Great Cookie Competition!

It is a fun event with an important mission, and I’m hoping you will join me in supporting it. We will be collecting votes ($1 = 1 vote), and my fundraising goal is $2500.
When I found out which cookie I’d be representing, I couldn’t help but smile. I am proudly serving as the champion for the Do-Si-Do Cookie.
If you know me, you know I absolutely love swing dancing. I used to travel every weekend for workshops and events. The connection felt like fate! I saw firsthand how the simple act of dancing brings people together, breaks down barriers, and creates instant community. The Do-Si-Do spirit is all about that connection and joy.
But my love for this pairing goes deeper than just a catchy name.
The Do-Si-Do is a true legacy cookie—one of the "OG" Girl Scout flavors. It’s simple, it’s not overly sweet, and it stands the test of time. When I tried one recently to prepare for the competition, the taste immediately transported me back.
It reminded me so much of my grandma. She spent much of her adult life living in Spain, where she had very limited access to American staples like peanut butter. Because of that scarcity, when she had access to it, she put peanut butter on everything. To me, this cookie doesn't just taste like a crunchy oatmeal sandwich; it tastes like legacy, resilience, and cherished family memories.
Why This Matters
As a proud mom of a Girl Scout, I see the immense value this organization brings to girls' lives. That’s why I’m so passionate about this specific event.
This isn't just about bragging rights for the best cookie flavor (though Team Do-Si-Do intends to win!). It’s about investing in our community.
Every single vote cast in this competition is a dollar raised. And 100% of those proceeds go directly to supporting scholarships for girls right here in our Southern Appalachians region. These scholarships open doors for girls to attend camps, participate in unique programs, and build the confidence they need to become tomorrow's leaders.
